A Memorial Mass for Peter Severino Centa was celebrated at St. Mary Church with his family and friends in attendance on July 9, 2021. In his formative years, Pete attended Sacred Heart Seminary in Detroit. Discerning that God was calling him to another way of serving him, Pete enlisted in the United States Army from 1961-1964. He was a dedicated husband and father. Following his retirement from Monroe Auto Equipment, Pete wrote two books about Monroe, his home for the entirety of his life. He took great pride in his children, enjoying spending time with each of them, With his wife, Jan (d.), he raised three children who survive him: Lyric (Don) Hodgson, Lori Centa and Michael (Erin) Centa. He is also blessed with five grandchildren, Zach, Regan, Hannah, Sam, and Kate. His grandson, Brendon Centa preceded him in death. To Pete's family and friends, the St. Mary Parish community extends its sympathy and ongoing prayer. May each of you be consoled and comforted with God's promise of new life through the resurrection.
