Frank John Kolakowski enjoyed being busy! Hard work was not foreign to him. Following his father’s death when he was a young boy, Frank and his siblings worked the family farm to secure food for his mother and siblings. As an adult, Frank continued to enjoy gardening and delighted in sharing his produce with neighbors and friends. His family described him as kind and generous. For more than 25 years Frank worked as a truck driver for Jones Transfer. He also served as a volunteer fireman in Maybee in his younger years. Many Monroe citizens trusted Frank’s ability to fix their cars; his work as a mechanic was valued by many. In fact, Frank met his second wife, Rose, when he was working on her car. He had an ability to fix other items as well; he was known to rummage through the garbage in search of items that could be fixed and resold! Utilizing his talents and skills, everything had a second life! In addition to gardening, Frank enjoyed caring for and feeding the birds that visited his yard. He came to know the patterns of the birds that were daily visitors at his feeders. His love for “creatures” included sharing treats with the neighbors’ dogs. To Frank’s family: his wife, Rose, his children: Benjamin, Michael, and Laura; his grandchildren: Brian, Teresa, Tressa, Tiffany, Sheila, Rafael, Maria, Krystal, Angeline, Randall, Rachael, Barbara, Jonathan, David, and Lisa; his 23 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren; his sister Irene Folk and his sister-in-law: Leona, St. Mary Parish extends its prayerful support at this difficult time. May the promise of the resurrection strengthen your faith and hope.
