What: “In the Spirit of Giving” – an outreach of the Monroe Vicariate Catholic Churches to Monroe County residents in need of furniture and household items. (Individuals are referred from area agencies that assist the homeless and working poor.)
Why: “The corporal works of mercy consist especially in feeding the hungry, sheltering the homeless, clothing the naked, visiting the sick and imprisoned, and burying the dead.” (CCC 2447); Matthew 25:31 -46.
When: As you are able and when there is a need. Our doors are open to assist our referred guests on Wednesday’s 2 pm – 4 pm; and on Saturdays, 10 am – 12 pm.
Who: Grandparent/Parent/Child teams; Adults able to guide those seeking furniture and household items; Adults with pickup trucks to receive donations from donors and deliver large items to our guests when needed.

Pope Francis encourages us, “It is my burning desire that, during this Jubilee, the Christian people may reflect on the corporal and spiritual works of mercy. Let us rediscover these corporal works of mercy. . . And let us not forget the spiritual works of mercy. . . we cannot escape the Lord’s words to us, and they will serve as the criteria upon which we will be judged.” (Mt. 25:31-46).
