Thomas Robert Opperman, beloved husband of Lorie Opperman, and uncle to Anthony Rais, Scott Opperman, Teresa (Doug) Black and Ryan (Sara) Steckmeyer, will be remembered as a happy and caring man. He was very involved in the lives of his nieces and nephews, and a source of encouragement to them as he shared his educational interests with them. Tom was employed as an electrician in La-Z-Boy’s maintenance department for almost thirty (30) years. It was at La-Z-Boy, that Tom and Lorie met one another. They were married at St. Mary Church on October 6, 1984 and continued to be generous and faithful members for more than 37 years. Devoted to Lorie, Tom provided for all of her needs. He enjoyed gardening, having been raised on a farm. Fishing and traveling were other interests that Tom embraced. St. Mary Parish prays that God’s promise of the resurrection will comfort and console Tom’s wife, Lorie, his sister, Martha, his sister-in-law, Pat (Lehr) Welch, his brother-in-law, Richard (Pat) Steckmeyer and his nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. May the peace of God guide you in the coming days and weeks.
