Catherine (Kit) Susan Maxwell began her life in Christ through baptism as an infant in St. Mary Church. She completed her initiation through the sacraments of Holy Eucharist and Confirmation at St. Mary and later married her beloved husband, George Maxwell at St. Mary on August 18, 1956. Deeply grateful for the gift of her Catholic education and the IHM Sisters, Kit most profoundly lived her commitment to Christ through her care for George as well as her five sons; Todd (Nancy), Mark, Eric, Kevin and Ryan, who all survive her. She enjoyed taking an active part in all of her son’s many activities. Their devotion to her was evident through their vigilant presence with her throughout her illness. Valued family time was spent teaching her sons the essential skills of laundering, cooking and cleaning. And more importantly Kit taught them how to “be family”, enjoying shared time with one another both at home and at their family cottage on Lake Missaukee. With thankful hearts for the gift of Kit, her family and friends gathered to celebrate the Mass of the Resurrection and her new life in Christ on January 6th. St. Mary Parish extends its prayerful support to George and Kits’ sons, her granddaughters, her daughter-in-law, her brother, Fred Lemerand and her sister, Annette (Harold) Smith, as well her many nieces and nephews. May the hope of the resurrection comfort you, console you and bring you peace in the coming days and weeks.
