While in Germany, Karl studied as a carpenter’s apprentice and continued that profession in the United States, working for many general contractors. Following his retirement, he enjoyed working as a hobby carpenter.
He was active not only at St. Mary Church but also with the Knights of Columbus 1266 Monroe Council and was active in assisting with the annual German-American Club Festival in Oregon, Ohio.
An outdoorsman, Karl enjoyed fishing and hunting especially at his “Up North” property in Lake City, MI. His love of hunting led him to teach hunter safety classes for more than 30 years.
Karl was a devoted to his family: Carolyn, his wife of sixty-two years; his sons, John (Susan) and Gus; his grandchildren, Mark (Sarah) and Brian (Jessica); and his great-grandchildren, Lauren and Wesley. May your memories of Karl continue to comfort you.
St. Mary Parish extends its sympathy to each member of Karl’s family and the assurances of our continued prayers for you. May the hope of the resurrection strengthen you in the coming days and grant you peace.
