Family and friends of Joan Therese Schmitz gathered for a Memorial Mass celebrating her earthly life and her new life in Christ.
A woman of many talents, Joan served others as a beautician, and expert seamstress. Her creative spirit extended to the creation of patterns and garments for her infirmed and wheelchair-bound clients. A passion for sewing led her to collect, clean and repair antique sewing machines. Living a full life, she also enjoyed going golfing, perch fishing, attention to the stock market and playing bridge. Joan met her husband, Jim, at a St. John’s Youth Activities dance where they first danced to the music of “Oh! What It Seemed to Be.”
St. Mary Parish extends its sympathy and commitment to prayerful support to Joan’s husband, Jim, her children, Marilyn Prucka, Nancy Nemec and Eric Jon; her grandchildren, Michael, William, Robert, Nichole, Danielle, Michelle and Megan as well as her eight great-grandchildren and her brother, R. Jules. May the promise of the resurrection fill each of you with hope and console you as you grieve the death of your wife, mother, grandmother, sister.
