Family and friends from near and far gathered to celebrate the long and faith-filled life of Jeanne Catherine Byron. Jeanne valued her Catholic education, and along with her husband (Albert d. 2003) ensured that each of their seven children would have the same opportunity and blessings afforded by Catholic education. She was a frequent cheerleader at all events that her children and grandchildren participated in. Known for her “infectious smile” Jeanne lived a life of gratitude. Most important in her life were people and the relationships she developed with family and friends. She dismissed material objects as having little value. Her most valued relationship, one rooted in devotion to the God who made her, loved her, and remained with her throughout her life was deepened through her commitment to a prayerful life. Jeanne enjoyed worshipping with her family each Sunday, sitting in the “west wing” of church surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jeanne was a Project Read volunteer, a member of the Nomads Travel Club, charter member of Round Robin Bridge Club and a founding member of MCSEE, an organization that offered financial assistance to families seeking a Catholic high school education. Her passion for playing bridge remained constant throughout her life, as she continued sitting around the bridge table with other residents at Brookdale Senior Living until recent weakness made her game playing no longer possible.. Jeanne left a rich legacy to her children who revered her: Catherine (James d.) Bernhold, Patricia (Bruce) Gonyea, Jeanne (Charles) Piotrowski, Barbara (John) Bacarella, Margaret (Joseph) Bellino, Albert (Janice) Byron, Mary (James) Harras, as well as her 21 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren, Jeanne left a rich legacy. St. Mary Parish extends its sympathy and continuing prayerful support to Jeanne’s family and friends. May the hope and promise of the Resurrection give you peace in the coming days and weeks as you mourn Jeanne’s death.
