The Mass of the Resurrection celebrating the life of Jean Ann Hoffman Waybright on Monday, January 18, 2021 was an opportunity for her family and friends to give thanks for her full and generous witness to living Gospel values. Her life in Christ began with her baptism at St. Mary, where she also was welcomed into full communion with the church through the Sacraments of Holy Eucharist and Confirmation. Jean’s marriage to her husband, Donald (d.2002) was likewise celebrated at St. Mary, where together they raised their four children; Lynn (John) Hoffman; Mark (Deb); Patti (Eddie) Lefere; Terri (Joe) Janssen, all who survive her. As a life-long parishioner of St. Mary, Jean shared her gifts and talents not only with her parish community, but in many other ways throughout the Monroe community. She was an active member of the Christian Women, serving at funeral luncheons and their Soups luncheons, as well as an organizer for Pre-School Faith Formation. She found joy and peace in gardening and tended the flower gardens with the St. Fiacre Gardeners at St. Mary. As a registered nurse, Jean knew the necessity for blood donations and therefore worked with the American Red Cross at blood drives and health screenings for many years. Family and its history were a lifelong-interests of Jean. With her daughter, Lynn, they shared this interest by being present at the Eby log cabin at the annual Monroe County Fair and through their work at the Monroe County Historical Museum. St. Mary Parish offers its sympathy and prayerful support to all of Jean’s family; her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, her brother, Nick Hoffman and her sisters, Carol Weaver and Helen Kemmerling. May the hope of the Resurrection comfort each of you and fill you with lasting peace.
