Family and friends of Dominic John Charles gathered on Friday, June 18th to remember God’s goodness and mercy throughout Dominic’s long life. Dominic and his wife, Evelyn (d. 2011), were blessed with fifty-seven years of marriage. A veteran on the Korean War, the discipline of the military prepared him to be a longtime and successful baseball coach. He was honored for his coaching dedication by being inducted into the Monroe Sports Hall of Fame. In addition to a career in the local paper industry, Dominic was active in many civic and religious organizations including the Monroe County Mental Health Association, Big Brothers, Monroe Council 1266 Knights of Columbus and the America Legion. St Mary Parish extends its sympathy and prayerful support to Dominic’s children Dominic (Sharon); Michael (Cheryl) and Wendy (Eamon) Murtagh; his grandchildren: Amber (Tim Pierce), Lindsay, Alex (Karley), Rachel (Brandon Wilt) and Colin as well as his three great-grandchildren, Annabelle, Lainey and Reagan. May our God who created and formed Dominic console and comfort you with his peace.
